The importance of meeting new needs

For several years now, the number of people using the Evian-les-Bains lake station has been increasing steadily. Several thousands of people use this route every day to reach Switzerland via the Lausanne station. The CGN (Compagnie générale de navigation sur le Léman) expects the traffic to increase significantly over the next few years.

This project therefore aims to meet several objectives, including improving the flow of passengers within the station. To achieve this, the aim is to rethink the spaces within the building with a new architecture and the creation of an exit walkway adjacent to the landing stage. The building will also have to be adapted to ensure the disembarkation of the future CGN fleet. From 2022, the Evian-Lausanne line will benefit from a new 700-seat boat that will make seven additional round trips per day.
The need to respond to a more global project

The reconstruction of the lake station and the connection to the quays are the first step in the major project to redevelop the lakefront. The future lake station will be a much more suitable gateway for travelers coming from Switzerland. It will also be strongly integrated into the peri-urban transport network and will be a major new asset for tourism in the region.
At first glance, the construction of the platform and footbridge should take 5 to 6 months and the reconstruction of the lake station requires 12 months of work. The year 2022 will therefore be a turning point for the city of Evian, and for the entire region, which will benefit from a new, more adapted, more sustainable and more innovative means of transportation.
